Planting Info

  •  Days to maturity: 58

  • Direct seed in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked. Sow seeds 1 1/2-2" apart, 1/2-1" deep. Do not thin. 

  • For a fall Crop, plant in late July or early August, about 2 months before first frost. Keep seeds well-watered to encourage good germination.

    • Harvest: Pick when peas enlarge in the pods and before pods begin to wrinkle and dry. Frequent harvesting can encourage more production.

Consumption

  • Snap peas can be eaten whole, without the need for shelling. Pea pods have a fibrous string that can be tough to eat when pods are cooked. To remove, trim one end of the pod and pull down the convex side of the pod.
